Students returning to Lenore PK-8 for the 2024-25 school year got off to a good start Monday, Aug. 26, during the school's well-attended open house event. Aside from the availability of pulled pork sandwiches provided by Mingo County Magistrates Donald Sansom and Dave Justice, as well as additional food and drinks supplied by school staff and members of the community, school officials said students also received school supplies from Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center. Free haircuts and free clothing were also available to students. Students were also treated with an obstacle course set up and supervised in the school's gym by Williamson Health and Wellness, as well as a rock wall set up and supervised on the parking lot courtesy of the local National Guard.

School officials said cookout-type and other food items for the event were supplied by Mingo County Magistrates Donald Sansom and Dave Justice, as well as by Hometown Delights Café and Cakes, school staff and members of the community.
With the upcoming Labor Day holiday, all governmental offices and many private sector offices and businesses will be closed, including all federal and state offices.
