One person has died and a child was injured after two separate alligator attacks in Central Florida over the weekend, according to a news release from the Florida Fish and Wildlife and Conservation Commission.

The fatal attack occurred when a woman swimming with friends was bitten by a gator, officials said.

“I travel all the time for work and I have never seen anything like this,” one passenger said.

Angela Mann, a professor in Florida's state university system, said her “Dreamer' students, those brought into the country illegally as children, are “some of the hardest-working students in my classroom.”
