The Irmo Planning Commission rejected a zoning change Monday that would have cleared the way for the huge new development known as “The Water Walk” that would bring hundreds of new homes to a site along the shores of Lake Murray.

Lexington County School District One’s board of trustees passed an amended budget with a $7 million plus increase for the 2024-25 school year to allow for a salary increase for certified and licensed teachers and other professionals. O’Hara’s Bakery Café at 121 E. Main St. in Lexington has announced an immediate but temporary closure as of Sept. 23. The announcement was made via their Facebook page Sunday with a hopeful emphasis on the closure being temporary.

The use of electronic devices, specifically cell phones, was discussed at the Sept. 17 school board meeting for Lexington County School District One. The electronic device proviso was brought up during Superintendent Gerrita Postlewait’s report with a first reading at the Oct. 22 board meeting. A second reading will follow at the November meeting.
