The Salina Police Department (SPD) is investigating an alleged aggravated burglary that occurred Tuesday, December 17, at the Value Inn, 1640 W. Crawford.

A 26-year-old Salina man sustained a serious neck injury during a violent altercation in the bathroom of The Blind Pig, a bar at 2501 Market Street, on Dec. 24. The Salina Police Department (SPD) reported that the victim was slashed across the neck with a box cutter, leaving a three-and-a-half-inch laceration.

A 38-year-old Salina man suffered serious facial injuries on Dec. 27 in an alleged machete attack that took place at his residence in the 400 block of South 12th Street in Salina.

Salina Police Department officers are investigating the theft of a red 2005 Chevrolet Silverado from a residence on Tenlawn Street, just off Ninth and Crawford, on Tuesday afternoon.

Coperion K-Tron, a manufacturing company located at 606 N. Front Street in Salina, has announced plans to close its facility by the end of the year, resulting in the loss of 98 jobs.
