ROCHESTER. N.Y. The return of lake effect snow is here, but due to a lack of moisture and a more scattered nature, it won’t be too bad for the Rochester region today. Temperatures will be falling throughout the day, going from the low 30s to the high 20s, marking the beginning of a long lasting cold trend… Winds at 15-25 MPH will also make temperatures feel about 10 degrees colder.

Lake effect snow starts to pick up today, and that pattern will continue into the weekend.

We remain Yellow on the Threat Tracker as some regions will be seeing heavy snow and whiteout conditions, and everyone will be feeling that bitterly cold wind.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. We got up to 30 degrees yesterday which, despite still being below freezing, felt like spring break compared to the days before where we were lucky to crack 10 degrees with the wind chill. That more seasonably cool air will remain all throughout this weekend, just in time for the big bout against the Broncs tomorrow.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. The tolerably cool air that’s been around for the past two days is sticking around again today, and this time we’re even going to go above freezing! It’s been ten days since we last had normal or above normal temperatures, and when paired nicely with some mostly cloudy skies and winds only at 10 MPH, it makes for great football weather.

The next 6 to 10 days will bring dangerously cold temperatures to much of the U.S. Nearly 80 million Americans are expected to be dealing with sub-zero temperatures on Tuesday.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. We, as well as the rest of the U.S., are in for a major cooldown next week as an outbreak of arctic air will sweep the nation. But before that, we’ll be able to enjoy the end of the workweek with some above average temperatures. Today we’ll have some snow showers in the morning coming in from the west, but behind them is some dry air creeping in, which will give us partly sunny conditions for the rest of the day. Winds will be light in the A.M. and then increase going into the night, and temperatures will get up to the mid 30s. Tomorrow moisture coming from the southwest will converge with an incoming cold front, which will produce a mix of rain and snow. Temperatures could potentially get up to the low 40s depending on the strength of that southwest flow and advection of warmer air.

A Yellow Alert has been issued for Monday through Wednesday as we are anticipating lake effect snow Monday morning, and piercingly cold temperatures through the middle of the week.
