The Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series announced today that the series will host its first PDRA Sportsman Spectacular as a part of the upcoming PDRA Thunder Valley Throwdown presented by Larry Jeffers Race Cars at Bristol Dragway on August 7-9. The Sportsman Spectacular will offer increased payouts for all of the PDRA's sportsman and Jr. Dragster categories competing in the fifth of seven 2026 PDRA national events.

When 2025 Drag Illustrated 30 Under 30 honoree Austin Kardules ' name was drawn in the Lincoln Electric drawing during last year's DI 30 Under 30 press conference at the PRI Show, Kardules couldn't believe his luck. He'd grown up around talented fabricators and had recently started to explore learning how to weld. The Lincoln Electric prize package – which included a Lincoln Power MIG 220 welder, a Lincoln Welding Gear Ready-Pak, and a five-day course at Lincoln's Welding School near Cleveland, Ohio, was exactly what Kardules needed to kick-start his education.

A last-minute decision to head to Maryland International Raceway resulted in a No. 1 qualifier award for Tim Paap Friday afternoon at the Hoosier Tire PDRA North vs. South Shootout presented by Callies Performance. The Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous presented by Jerry Bickel Race Cars driver recorded a 3.653-second pass at 205.41 mph on Thursday's first qualifying session, and when rain cut Friday's Pro Nitrous qualifying down to one session, he was still the driver on top. It's Paap's first No. 1 qualifier award of the season at the fourth of seven races on the 2026 Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series schedule.

Travis “The Carolina Kid” Harvey's Pro Mod hot streak continued Saturday night when he raced to victory in WS Construction Pro Boost presented by P2 Contracting and Ty-Drive at the Hoosier Tire PDRA North vs. South Shootout presented by Callies Performance. Competing at his car owners' home track, Maryland International Raceway, Harvey delivered a wire-to-wire victory in the screw-blown Redd Topp Trucking/Holland Enterprise '19 Camaro, using a 3.595-second pass at 209.36 mph to defeat Derek Ward and his 3.624 at 207.75 in the final round.

Aaron Stanfield has just left Gainesville Raceway, home of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season opener, the AMALIE Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals. He's heading home after more than two weeks on the road here in sunny Florida following a second-round exit in his Johnson's Horsepowered Garage/Janac Brothers Racing Pro Stock Camaro out of the Elite Motorsports camp. Now about a week removed from his $150,000 win at the Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod presented by Red Line Oil, Stanfield is still buzzing over the victory, thanks in part to the reception he received at Gainesville.
Jason Reiss, a drag racing journalist with a gift for both writing and photography, passed away January 22 following a lengthy and grueling battle with colorectal cancer. He was 52.

Promoter and racer Justin Swanstrom is making the most of a tough situation with the addition of Pro Mod and Extreme Pro Mod to the lineup for his Swanfest – Money In The Bank, October 1-3, at Rockingham Dragway. With the recent cancellation of the remaining IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series races, racers who competed in that series' Pro Mod and Outlaw Pro Mod classes now have another option on the race calendar.
