John DeFlorian, the 2025 JHG NHRA Mountain Motor Pro Stock world champion, is one of the 20-plus drivers gearing up for the newly announced Mountain Motor Pro Stock Shootout powered by Ross Environmental during Summit Motorsports Park's upcoming 49th annual Cornwell Tools Night Under Fire on August 1. As announced on Tuesday, the nitro and pyrotechnic-focused single-day show will now include a 16-car qualified field of Mountain Motor Pro Stock cars with a total of $100,000 in payouts on the line.

Fletcher Cox came into the DI Winter Series finale, the World Series of Pro Mod, with something to prove. The Super Bowl champion's holeshot loss at the U.S. Street Nationals – and the reaction it generated online – didn't sit right with Cox, and he was determined to bounce back in a big way. It's a dark, rainy spring late afternoon in Franklin, Indiana, where Peter Norton and his family grow corn, soybeans, and wheat across around 7,500 acres. The Norton family has worked this ground since 1834, making Peter the seventh generation to farm in this area just south of Indianapolis. Additionally, he owns and operates a trucking and logistics business, Hurricane Specialized Logistics, with about 65 trucks on the road hauling everything from military planes to wind turbine components. His wife, Christy, also owns a number of business ventures around town, and they have two young daughters. “We stay pretty busy,” Norton says nonchalantly as rain beats down on his truck cab.

For the first time in its nearly 50-year history, the largest single-day show in drag racing will be available to a global audience when FloRacing streams the 49th annual Cornwell Tools Night Under Fire on August 1 at Summit Motorsports Park. With the stars of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series' nitro classes joining forces with a cast of drag racing's best exhibition entertainers, it's a lineup that fans won't want to miss whether they're in the grandstands or in their living rooms.

This weekend, Mountain Motor Pro Stock returns “home” to Summit Motorsports Park to compete in the inaugural Mountain Motor Pro Stock Shootout powered by Ross Environmental at the legendary 49th annual Cornwell Tools Night Under Fire. The class has a rich history at the Norwalk, Ohio, facility, going back to the days when it was IHRA Pro Stock and the track was known at Norwalk Raceway Park. For a lot of people, including track president Bill Bader Jr., the homecoming is a breath of fresh air for the class, following the disbandment of the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series, where Mountain Motor Pro Stock raced exclusively this season.

With championship battles tightening across the Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series, racers in the professional, sportsman, and Jr. Dragster ranks will head to historic Bristol Dragway, Aug. 6-8, for the PDRA Thunder Valley Throwdown presented by Larry Jeffers Race Cars. The fifth of seven races on the 2026 tour comes at a pivotal point in the season, with several classes separated by just a handful of rounds and the PDRA Sportsman Spectacular adding increased stakes for the series' sportsman and Jr. Dragster competitors.

On Saturday, August 1, tens of thousands of drag racing fans packed the grandstands at Norwalk, Ohio's Summit Motorsports Park to witness the spectacle that is the 49th annual Cornwell Quality Tools Night Under Fire. Despite a forecast that predicted a near-guaranteed rainout during the primetime show, the Bader family and its team persevered to provide another star-studded show at the world's largest single-day drag racing event.

This weekend's PDRA Thunder Valley Throwdown presented by Larry Jeffers Race Cars is set to host perhaps the largest Pro Boost field of the season, thanks in part to the addition of new faces like Carson Perry, who's making his debut in the class. Racing as a teammate to the most recent Pro Boost winner on tour, Travis “The Carolina Kid” Harvey, Perry will pilot a Harts Charger-boosted Redd Topp Motorsports C7 Corvette owned by Vaughn Myles and Eric Holland. Perry's father, Danny Perry, and his brother, Daniel Perry, will tune the car along with Harvey's screw-blown entry.

Promoted by Billy Hoskinson and the team at Street Racing Channel, War at 304 took over West Virginia's 304 Motorsports Park on Aug. 14-15 for a no-prep race at one of the most unique tracks in drag racing.

With just two races remaining in the 2026 Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series season, championship implications will be front and center when the series returns to Darana Motorsports Park – Benson, Aug. 27-29, for DragWars presented by Big Stuff Total Power Management. Tight points battles across several professional and sportsman categories, combined with the strong contingent of regional Pro Modified racers traditionally drawn to Benson, set the stage for a pivotal late-season stop on the seven-race tour.
