The central agency has now sought details of all Development Rights Certificates (DRCs) issued by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) in the last 20 years.

According to the detailed project report (DPR), the underground road is expected to be completed in five years. However, in reality, construction work could extend beyond 8 to 10 years, as it will be the first urban tunnel project in the city, passing below residential areas.

BWSSB Chairman Dr V Ram Prasath Manohar, said the project will be completed in three years from the date of government approval.

What can be noted is that the government, which had earlier planned to hold the state cabinet meeting on January 30, decided to prepone it after the Supreme Court scheduled the hearing on Tuesday.

The decision comes just months after the board approved a proposal to enlist an independent marketing team to sell off the 3,500+ unsold flats.

Taking a cue from the Income Tax Department, Bengaluru's civic body is developing a new system to make the e-khata issuance process faceless by reducing the control of Assistant Revenue Officers (AROs) over their respective areas.

This price is nearly three times higher than what the board charged for a similar project four years ago, raising concerns about affordability.
