Kansas City is getting an early taste of summer this week, with temperatures climbing toward 90 degrees and humidity levels starting to rise by the weekend.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City is heading toward its first real stretch of summerlike weather, with temperatures nearing 90 degrees by the weekend and humidity levels climbing noticeably higher.

Kansas City is entering a much more active spring weather pattern. Friday is now an Alert Day with possible severe thunderstorms, damaging winds and large hail during the evening hours. Storm chances continue through the weekend.

Kansas City faces several chances for thunderstorms through Monday with damaging wind, hail and possible tornado threats in the forecast.

After a night filled with tornado warnings, damaging winds and heavy rain, calmer weather is finally moving back into the Kansas City area. A few showers could linger into Tuesday morning before cooler and quieter conditions settle in for the middle of the week.

Sunshine returns on Wednesday, but it will stay cool, with the high only reaching the mid-60s.
