Chief appraiser Keith Payne said the deadline to file an appeal of a property assessment is July 20, and the tax assessors office will have additional office hours to handle the potential appeals. Tucked away in the middle of Hinesville, a new affordable living community is underway. Builders, developers and city leaders broke ground last week on the planned Wisteria Gardens, a 96-unit apartment complex off Fairhope Lane.
Open houses at Liberty County’s schools will be held Friday from 2– 6 p.m. at all schools in the system, and the first day of classes for the 2026–27 school year is Tuesday, August 4. One of the changes for students this year is the move to clear book bags for all students, from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.
