The death has taken place Brian Campbell, 20th April 2024, suddenly, beloved husband of Donna, loving father of Caomhán and Nicole, dear son of the late Agnes, loving brother of Pauline, Donna, Paul, Jacqueline, Neil and Stephen, and a devoted uncle and great-uncle to all his nieces and nephews. Dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his wider family circle and his friends. Wake commencing on Tuesday, 23rd April from 11.00am to 10.00pm and on Wednesday from 11.00am to 10.00pm. Funeral leaving his home, 42 Woodbrook West on Thursday, 25th April at 10.20am to St. Mary’s Church, Creggan for Requiem Mass at 11.00am Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul. Our Lady of Lourdes intercede for him.

The death has occurred of the late Ivan Bell, 23rd April 2024, (peacefully) at Corkhill Private Nursing Home, Donaghmore, 9 Highfield Road, Magherafelt, dearly beloved husband of Muriel, much loved and devoted father of James, dear father-in-law of Julie-Ann, loving granda of George and Florence and dearest brother of Murial (Wright) and the late Gordon, William and Margaret. The first two entries in the Deadpool franchise were among my favorite releases of 2016/2018 respectively. They were laugh out loud funny, moved a mile-a-minute, and offered a fourth wall breaking, madcap rampage amid the height of “they’re taking this all too seriously” comic book films. Each of these presented a breath of fresh air in an overrun genre—sharing a unique voice that even the film’s haters would have to admit presented an individual, undeniably singular bit of nonsense that treated nothing as too precious to shit on. That a third entry would allow that most holy of cinematic superheroes—Hugh Jackman as Wolverine—to have the piss taken out of him… well, how could you fail to deliver on the joy of that?

The California State Senate and State Assembly passed Assembly Bill (AB) 3129 on August 31, 2024, immediately prior to the end of the state’s legislative session. The bill now heads to the desk of Governor Gavin Newsom as a final step toward enactment. If signed by Governor Newsom, AB 3129 would take effect January 1, 2025, and would materially impact certain private equity and hedge fund acquisitions of health facilities, provider organizations, and provider groups in California.
