Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship has announced its spring and summer line-up. The season begins mid-May with the Quincy Mountain Epic and finishes out with Grinduro! in September. In addition to trail work, riding and festivals, these events help fund the work of SBTS.

The California Department of Social Services has funded Plumas Rural Services' Resource and Referral Program to provide limited financial aid for potential new child care providers in Plumas County.

Russell Clark Steglich, 90, passed away Jan. 4, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Russ briefly attended the University of Utah before being employed by Pitney Bowes, Inc. in Salt Lake City. He was transferred to Sacramento in 1959 and then to Reno in 1961. In 1964, Russ was offered a management position with Pitney Bowes in Sacramento but decided to stay in Reno, where he became an owner and partner in several different businesses before retiring in 2004.

John David von Almen Jr., born Nov. 1, 1957, a beloved son, father, grandfather and friend, passed away Nov. 17, 2024, at his home in Lake Havasu, Arizona.

Plumas County Tourism, formerly Feather River Tourism Association, has announced that marketing grant funds are available for organizations hosting events in Plumas County. Grant recipients must use the funds to market an event or occasion that brings visitors to the county. Ideally, visitors will stay at least one night.

The North Valley Community Foundation announces the application period has begun for the 25 college scholarships being offered this year. Most opportunities are available to graduating high school seniors who will be attending college or trade school in the fall.
