A first-day-of-school tradition at GCU is the Ignite worship service, when the Spiritual Life department sets the spiritual tone for the year. Ignite, on Tuesday at Global Credit Union Arena, featured music from the Worship team, a talk by University Pastor Dr. Tim Griffin, the lighting ceremony to remind students to be "the light of the world," and a fair that featured departments such as Local Outreach and Global Outreach.

Families, friends and donors honored 305 students who received scholarships at the Canyon Rising Scholarship Reception on Thursday night in Global Credit Union Arena.

Grand Canyon University President Brian Mueller opened the fall 2024 Chapel season with a talk on Monday at Global Credit Union Arena.

The Canyon Activities Board touts an event-packed calendar for the fall semester, and one of the first to roll out of the gate was Sundaes and Succulents on Tuesday night at Canyon Field. The event featured ice cream and a bevy of ice cream toppings served along with the night's activity, painting terra cotta pots for the succulents that CAB members handed out.

The College of Arts and Media is kicking off its Ethington Theatre season with Lauren Gunderson's play, "Ada and the Engine." Based off a true story, the play features inventor Charles Babbage and mathematician Ada Byron Lovelace who work together to create the Difference Engine, the first computing machine.

Grand Canyon University Pastor Dr. Tim Griffin delivered a Chapel talk Monday at Global Credit Union Arena.

Reports are that the Pac-12 will meet to discuss adding Memphis and Tulane to the conference.

Canyon Activities Board hosted a FAIRwell to Summer fair Tuesday night on Prescott Field for students to enjoy one last summer event before fall begins. The evening featured carnival rides, student vendors, delicious treats and fair games.

Eleven GCU ROTC cadets recited the oath of enlistment at a contracting ceremony at Prescott Field on Friday.
