Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita will serve another four years in the office. He easily beat Democratic challenger Destiny Wells yesterday. Rokita told supporters after the win that “the people of Indiana have rejected this push to the left.” He also said he ran a “positive campaign” and never mentioned Wells.

Amendment Two is voted down as Kentuckians cast their votes on Tuesday. Amendment Two would have allowed tax funds to be used for private and charter schools. Lex18 reports Kentucky Students First released a statement Tuesday night saying, “Kentucky students deserve better, and our resolve to serve students over systems remains unchanged.” Governor Beshear stated, “Kentucky voters have once again definitively stated that public dollars belong only in public schools” and called on local leaders to “get serious” about fully funding public schools.

One person is dead after an accident on KY 144 Wednesday. According to the Daviess County Sheriff's Department, at around 8:45pm, Central Dispatch received a call of a single vehicle accident in the 4900 block of KY 144 near Owensboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Initial investigation indicates that an eastbound passenger car was passing vehicles at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle, leaving the roadway and striking a ditch. The driver of the vehicle suffered serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Daviess County Coroner's Office. There were no other passengers in the vehicle, nor any other vdhicles involved.

An apparent wrong-way driver caused an acident on Highway 6o East Sunday near Maceo. According to the Daviess County Sheriff's Department, at around 9:15pm, Central Dispatch received multiple calls about an accident with injuries in the 6800 Block of US Highway 60 East. Upon arrival DCSO Deputies discovered three vehicles were involved and that two people were injured. Just minutes prior to the report of the crash, Central Dispatch had received a call regarding a wrong way driver in that area and that information was given to all patrol deputies via radio and mobile data terminal messaging.

The Kentucky Housing Task Force is reporting that the Commonwealth is short more than 200-thousand housing units. The task force's final report was released last week and found the shortage is in both rental and owned houses. More than 50-percent of income from renters is going to the cost of housing. The report also a noted a decrease in construction due to costs of supplies and labor. Senator Jimmy Higdon hopes that he and others will present legislation to address the housing problem.

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb is in the Middle East on his final international economic development trip. Holcomb will visit Saudi Arabia and Kuwait to encourage companies to invest in the state. He is on his 27th trip as governor, and it is being paid for by the Indiana Economic Development Foundation. Indiana and Saudi Arabia exchanged 418-million-dollars of goods last year, and Kuwait imported 28-million-dollars of goods from Indiana last year.

Kentucky's unemployment rate was slightly higher in October than it was in September. That's according to the latest data released from the U.S. Department of Labor, which says Kentucky's unemployment rate was at five-percent in October. That rate is point-one-percent higher than it was in September. The rate is also higher than the national average, which was at four-point-one-percent in October.

In a recent legal development, a grand jury decided not to indict a security guard involved in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Nelson Castillo at a party in Owensboro's Knights of Columbus Hall. This event occurred last September during a fight that escalated, leading to the tragic incident. The decision, described in legal terms as a “no true bill,” effectively closes the case, meaning the guard will face no charges. Authorities have stated that with this resolution, the investigation into the shooting will not continue further.

Kentucky House Speaker David Osborne will serve another term as House Speaker. The decision came this week as Osborne was nominated by members of the 2025 House Majority Caucus without opposition. Osborne now becomes the first Republican to serve four terms as speaker in Kentucky's history.
