Kentucky is among several states that raised flags to full-staff during yesterday's inauguration of President Donald Trump. Authorities say the move was ordered by Governor Andy Beshear, who directed state officials to raise flags flying at half-staff in honor of former President Jimmy Carter, who died on December 29th at the age of 100. Flags were lowered back to half-staff following the inauguration, where they will remain until sunset on January 28th.

The Owensboro man facing child porn charges is facing even more. According to media partner 14News, 46-year-old Joey Rust was charged with four counts of possessing matter portraying sexual performance by a minor under 12, but now he's facing 36 charges. Police say they served a search warrant at his home in the 600 block of Pennbrooke Avenue, and the additional charges come after more evidence was found on his cell phone. His bond has been raised to $125,000.

State health officials are tracking a “very high” rate of respiratory illness–particularly among children–in Kentucky.

Former Kentucky Democratic Party Leader Jerry Lundergan is pleased to receive a pardon from President Joe Biden before he left office. Lundergan was convicted of channeling funds to his daughter's U.S. Senate run in 2014 and was sentenced to just under two years in prison. The former leader did not finish his sentence and had fought for a compassionate release due to serious health conditions. The president noted Lundergan's health issues and non-profit efforts since his release in his reasoning for his pardon.

The University of Kentucky Wildcats are recouping after a loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores. The Cats lost to the Commodores 69-to-74 at home on Saturday. Louisville doctors are warning the public about a so-called “quademic.” They're talking about a recent spike in flu, COVID, RSV, and norovirus cases.

One person has been rescued from a burning home in Vanderburgh County. The German Township Fire Department says the call came in just before 7 a.m. Sunday for the fire in the 95-hundred block of New Harmony Road. The victim was trapped inside a back bedroom and unable to get out due to the flames and thick smoke. A firefighter pulled them through a window and they were taken to Deaconess Hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.

In Owensboro, a significant crackdown on drug trafficking has led to the arrest of Paige M. Kassinger. Authorities from the Daviess County Sheriff's Office conducted a search at Kassinger's residence on Center Street following tips about her involvement in distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl. The search revealed not only drugs but also materials indicative of drug trafficking activities, including a grinder, digital scales, and surveillance equipment. Additionally, Timothy M. Jones, who was present at the home during the raid, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Both individuals are now being held at the Daviess County Detention Center as the investigation continues.
