A steady flow of moisture combined with a series of upper level disturbances and daytime heating will keep the chance of rain in the Mid-South every day for the next seven days. Fortunately, this is not a severe weather pattern, but periods of heavy rain along with thunder and lightning can be expected.

A series of upper level disturbances will keep the chance of rain and thunderstorms in place for the next few days. Most daytime hours will be dry, but isolated to widely scattered downpours or a thunderstorm will still be possible at just about anytime. A a cold front will enter the area Wednesday increasing the chance of rain and thunderstorms. That will be followed by a dry and mild pattern to end the week and remain through next weekend.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A highly charged atmosphere is in place across the Mid-South along with a series of upper level disturbances that will move through bringing the potential for isolated to widely scattered strong to severe storms to develop tonight and tomorrow. That will be followed by a cold front Wednesday that will significantly elevate the risk for severe storms. The Storm Prediction Center has already placed and ENHANCED RISK of severe weather over much of the Action News 5 coverage area for Wednesday. The potential for torrential rain, damaging wind, large hail, and tornadoes will come into play Wednesday evening.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - An unstable atmosphere is firmly entrenched across the Mid-South and will remain through tomorrow night. A series of fronts will enter the area bringing the threat for strong to severe storms to develop late tonight and tomorrow night. These storms will be capable of producing heavy rain, damaging wind, large hail, and tornadoes.

Dry air and sunshine prevailed today after storms moved through the Mid-South during the early morning hours. A disturbance in the Plains this evening is driving clouds into the area and brings with it a very slight chance of a stray shower south of Memphis. Sunshine will return tomorrow and remain through the Mother’s Day weekend ahead of our next round of rain and thunderstorms next week.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A disturbance in the ArkLaTex is driving moisture north into the Mid-South. As a result, clouds increased through the day today and will ultimately lead to rain as the work week begins. A few storms will be possible, but most areas will just deal with rain Monday and Tuesday. Another system will move in by the end of the week bringing another round ahead of the weekend.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Storms along the Gulf Coast are driving moisture into the Mid-South ahead of a cold front to our west that will move in later tonight bringing rain and a few thunderstorms to the area. Clouds and a few showers will linger Tuesday followed by a better chance of rain and thunderstorms to end the week.

A drier pattern will evolve this evening giving the Mid-South a couple of days of dry weather ahead of another system that will move into the area Friday bringing more rain and thunderstorms.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A brief streak of mild and dry weather is in place across the Mid-South for now, but a developing storm system will bring rain and the threat of thunderstorms to the Action News 5 coverage area as early as tomorrow night and remain through Friday. A few strong to severe storms capable of producing heavy rain, damaging wind, and hail will be possible late Thursday night and Friday.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A southerly flow is driving warm air into the Mid-South making for some of the warmest temperatures of the season to start the work week. The southerly flow is also driving Gulf moisture into the area ahead of a series of upper level disturbances that will begin to impact the Action News 5 coverage area rain and thunderstorms by the middle of the week and linger into the Memorial Day weekend.
