Roy Reaves, a candidate for Ward 1, Position 2 on the Russellville City Council in the November general election, announced in an email Sunday that he would withdraw from the race. The other candidate seeking the council seat is Laura Wetzel.

DANVILLE — The Yell County Quorum Court's Law Enforcement Committee met with Sheriff Nick Gault during an hour-long meeting Tuesday.

POTTSVILLE — The Potts Inn sidewalk restoration project was completed about noon Wednesday. The project was completed before the annual Butterfield Day celebration on Saturday, Sept. 21.

The Pope County Quorum Court approved the first reading of an ordinance that would levy a three-quarters of one percent (.75, or three-fourths of one cent) sales and use tax for public safety to fund a new detention center and 911 system.
