I can't front, my fascination with crust pants started in 1983, because I had older heads around me who had killer pants. While living in San Francisco during the 80's, I started expressing myself with a needle & thread, but I really made my raddest pair in the early 2000's. While living in Seattle, I began a pair of pants that took over my life; I would spend hours sewing on patches. During this time, I realized something: that I felt a tremdeous calming effect with every patch that I finished, and even now it's great way for me to relax. When I see someone rocking a pair, I don't care what country I'm in, I still get excited and I can't help but stare. I have mega amounts of respect for people who take the time create a killer crust pants, because I know that they are a labor of blackened love. I also find it really interesting the way that every pair tells a different story, but they also connect the wearer to a worldwide tribe. The spirit of D.I.Y is totally alive, and has been passed down from punks to punks.

Today I'm on some straight bugged out shit…I want to share with you CVLT Nation's Top 13 Ruff & Rugged Golden Era Hip Hop videos. During the late 80's until the mid 90's, my love of everything hip hop was large! When me and my homies were living during this time, we never thought we were living in the Golden Era. We almost thought this period would last forever, but we were wrong. For many different reasons, this genre lost it's innocence and became co-opted by the mainstream. These visuals represent a time when artists had to come to correct, and no biting was allowed. You can see by these 13 different videos, there was a high level of creativity. For a time, Hip-Hop really did have the rebellious spirit that punk once had…Both of these genres had a lot in common – but that is a whole other feature. What punk scene captured my imagination the most during 80's? It had to be the UK scene, especially once I started getting into Peace Punk real heavy. Thanks to Golden Voice Promotions, Los Angeles punks were lucky enough to have GBH, Discharge, Subhumans, Broken Bones and many more come to our city and rage. It was bands like Anti-Sect, Amebix, Disorder, Rudimentary Peni, D.I.R.T., Icons of Filth, Dirge, Instigators and anarcho bands that we never got to see, so we had to live vicariously through what we saw on the back of records to form what we thought they looked or sounded like in person. 1983 was a scary year to be a teenager – we all felt that a Nuclear bomb could drop at any time. This fear and frustration with the powers that be found it's way into the art that was being created by punks worldwide, and this flame of rebellion still burns bright. Today CVLT Nation wants to share with you portraits of 80's UK Punk culture!

Damn skippy, when you talk about English anarcho-punk, you better mention ANTISECT. To me, the band was more than just epic, they were crustadelic and gnarlytastic.
