The first ever league Thames Valley Derby at the Kassam Stadium ended honours even this afternoon as Oxford United and Reading fought out a 1-1 draw.

Oxford United opened their first Championship campaign this millennium with a comfortable win over Norwich City, play-off semi-finalists last season. Mark Harris opened the scoring in the first half and Cameron Brannagan made sure of the points with a trademark finish in the second period.

Oxford won their second home Championship game of the season this afternoon, beating 10-men Preston North End 3-1 thanks to goals from top-scorer Mark Harris in the first half after Emil Riis had given the visitors an early lead. Tyler Goodrham and substitute Greg Leigh completed the scoring in the second half, with Preston's Liam Lindsay shown red just before Leigh's goal.

Oxford United made it three wins from three home games this season thanks to Idris El Mizouni's first goal for the club at the start of the second half, as Stoke City still wait for their first win in Oxford.
