Last Season: Traeger was mostly a healthy scratch for the Eagles in his sophomore season, skating in just eight games and failing to record a point.

Prior to BC: Berard spent the first two seasons of his college career playing for Hockey East rival Providence. Berard skated in a total of 61 games in his two years with the Friars, putting 11 total points in the time.

Last Season: Oskar Jellvik took a big step forward in his second season as an Eagle, jumping up from 17 points as a freshman to 42 as a sophomore, good for just over a point per game pace. Jellvik got off to an extremely hot start, scoring five goals in his first five games and while the goal scoring numbers cooled off a bit from there (he ended the season with 13), his overall production did not. He ended his season by scoring five points in the NCAA Tournament, including a goal against Michigan Tech in the Eagles’ tournament opener.

The Boston College men’s hockey team will get their season underway on October 11 when they start a two-game weekend series in East Lansing against Michigan State. It’s been more than five months since the Eagles fell to Denver in the National Championship game, and there are plenty of expectations around this year’s team. BC is ranked second in the preseason poll and were also voted as the favorites to finish the season at the top of Hockey East.

Drafted: Prior to BC: Michael Hagens has spent the last two seasons as a member of the Chicago Steel in the USHL, where he put up 58 points in 119 regular season games. He originally committed to Harvard back in 2021, but later switched to Boston College so he could play with his younger brother, James.

Last Season: Gustafsson followed up a nice freshman season with another solid showing in his year. He skated in all 41 games, putting up 3 points and 13 assists while playing an important role in what as a very strong BC defense.

The season is officially underway for the Boston College men’s hockey team, and there is already plenty to talk about. The Eagles split their first season of the series last weekend, winning Friday night’s opener against Michigan State 3-0 before the Spartans bounced back with a 4-3 win of their own on Saturday. There’s a long way to go this season and it’s too soon to anything too definitive about this year’s team, but here’s some of what stood out over the first two games of the year
