The Boston College men’s hockey team took home two important early season wins over the past weekend, taking down 10th ranked St. Cloud State on the road by scores of 4-1 and 2-1 on Friday and Saturday night respectively. It has been an impressive start to the season for the Eagles, who are not 5-1 with four wins over top 15 programs already under their belt. As always, there’s plenty to discuss from this most recent slate of games, so let’s hit on some of what has stood out the most.

The Boston College men’s hockey team completed their weekend sweep of Maine on Sunday afternoon, winning in far les dramatic fashion than they did on Friday night by a 3-0 score. As has been the winning formula, the Eagles got goals from some of their big forward names while playing a very solid defensive game with Fowler picking up his third shutout of the season to make it a perfect weekend over the fifth ranked Black Bears.

The Boston College men’s hockey team continued their red hot start to the season with two more wins over the weekend, knocking off Maine on Friday and Sunday by scores of 3-2 and 3-0 respectively. The Eagles have had an extremely difficult schedule to start the season, with seven of their first eight games coming against highly ranked teams that could all be pushing for an NCAA Tournament bid in a few months, but BC has come out of their gauntlet with a 7-1 record, a 27-10 goal differential, and a whole bunch of good vibes. There was a lot that the Eagles did well this past weekend, so let’s talk about some of what stood out the most from these last two games.

The Boston College men’s hockey team got their weekend started off on the right foot on Friday night, taking down Northeastern 3-0 in the first game of a two-game series. As has often been the case of late, the Eagles were lead by Ryan Leonard, who remains on an absolute heater after his two-goal performance tonight. Jacob Fowler looked great in his return to net and BC made it two conference wins on the week with a chance to grab a third tomorrow night.

It’s been four games since our last check in with the Boston College men’s hockey team, and the Eagles’ hot stretch to start the season has hit a bit of a bump in the road. The Eagles have gone 2-2-0 in their past four games, sandwiching wins against Providence and Northeastern between losses to UConn and Northeastern over the past few weeks. And while a lot of things have still been working for BC as they now sit at 9-3-0 on the season, there are a few areas where they badly need to see some improvement as the season goes on. Let’s take a look at some of what has stood out on both sides recently.

Eagles take home a big comeback win

The Boston College men’s hockey team wrapped up the first half of their season with a win on Monday night, defeating Lowell 3-2. Despite being down three of their normal top six defensemen, BC played a fantastic defensive game and got enough offense from their biggest names to bounce back from Friday night’s loss against the RiverHawks.

The Boston College men’s hockey team dropped their first game back from winter break, falling to Merrimack 5-2. It was an ugly start to the second half of the season for the Eagles, who jumped out to an early lead and seemed to be in control of things for a while before things just completely fell apart. Eamon Powell, Will Skahan, and Lukas Gustafsson all returned from injury and five of the six Eagles who played for Team US in the World Juniors were in the lineup - Drew Fortescue did not play - but they played a game full of defensive miscues and to their credit, Merrimack made them pay for it.
