A two-vehicle accident backed up traffic at the intersection of Main Street and Progress Drive on Thursday morning. Occurring around 8:30 a.m., a truck ended up facing north in the westbound lane of Main Street with its driver’s side door showing damage, and a second truck facing the wrong direction also in the westbound lane near the right turn curb having its front end smashed in. Several City of Xenia Police Officers were on the scene to help control the flow of traffic as the vehicles obstructed the normal pathway of traffic until tow trucks arrived to removed the vehicles. No injuries were reported from the accident.

The “on ramp” portion of North Valley Road that connects with eastbound U. S. 35 off of Trebein Road remained closed through Monday due to flooding which encompassed the area. Raised waters surrounded the road and caused edges of it near its curve to not be visible through the water. Southwest Ohio saw record rainfalls on Sunday afternoon, with more than an inch reported in several areas. High spped winds also temporarily knocked out power in several parts of Greene County. AES Ohio reported 26 customers were still without power Monday afternoon, but service was expected to be restored by 4 p.m.
