TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 25 Texas A&M men's golf team received stellar third-round performances from Phichaksn Maichon and Daniel Rodrigues to finish in sixth place at the Arizona National Invitational Tournament.
Texas A&M trots out a formidable lineup headlined by senior Daniel Rodrigues who enters the fray with back-to-back top five finishes and three consecutive top 10 results.
After stumbling to an opening round 80 Monday morning, Maggert rebounded to post the best combined score of the last two rounds with a 3-under 69 Monday afternoon along with Tuesday’s circuit at the Golf Club of Houston.
The Maroon & White open action with their first 60-minute contest against host Baylor at 1 p.m. After a short break, the Aggies play UIW before heading back home.
After registering a 6-over 290 in the first round at the par-71, 7,114-yard Floridian National Golf Club, the Aggies rebounded to post the third-lowest score of the second round with a 1-under 283.
The event is free and open to the public. The 54-hole tournament features two rounds Saturday followed by Sunday’s final 18 holes. Play commences with tee times between 7:20-9:20 a.m. both days.
Daniel Rodrigues logged a bogey-free round at the par-70, 7,005-yard Seaside Course at Sea Island Golf Club. He is tied for fourth place at 3-under 67, two strokes off the pace set by tournament leader Camden Smith of Georgia (-5).

Phichaksn Maichon earned a runner-up finish in the loaded field with his tournament tally of 11-under 199. The Bangkok, Thailand, native tied Minnesota’s Ben Warian and Florida State’s Frederick Kjettrup checking in two strokes behind regional medalist Max Herendeen of Illinois who logged a score of 13-under 197.
