On Wednesday night, May 6, the Altavista Area YMCA Youth Soccer was recognized at half time of the Varsity Boys Soccer game. The YMCA has 140 kids registered across all of their spring soccer offerings from kids between 3 and 15 years old.

On Friday night, May 8, Altavista Lady Colonels hosted the Lady Hawks of Gretna. Altavista won 10 to 3.
On Friday, May 15, Altavista Animal Clinic located 1437 Lynch Mill Rd Altavista held a ribbon cutting celebration at 2 p.m. Attending were Mayor Reggie Bennett, AOT Executive Director David Green, Altavista Town Councilperson Gary Penn, Altavista Town Manager Gary Shanaberger, Legislative Aide Mike Christensen, and Director of Economic Development for Campbell County Nina Rezai. Tours of the clinic were given and light refreshments were served.

On Friday, May 15, Altavista Lady Colonels Varsity Softball hosted the William Campbell Lady Generals. Altavista lost 11 to 9. The Lady Colonels played hard and never gave up.
Campbell County Schools hosted their 2026 Career and Technical (CTE) Signing Day at the Campbell County Technical Center located at 194 Dennis Riddle Drive, Rustburg, VA on the morning of May 19 at 9 am. Students, parents, family members and most importantly business members attended the special event. Thirty graduating seniors from the four Campbell County high schools signed their letters of intent employment with nineteen local businesses and industry partners. Some companies this was their first time having students sign with them while some have been with them for years. After graduation these students will transition directly into the workforce. Many of these students have been members of their school sports teams wrestling, track, softball, band and worked while attending school. The event also highlights the strong partnerships between local industry and Career and Technical Education programs that help meet the workforce needs within our community.
On Tuesday, May 19, Brookville High School Bees Baseball recognized seven seniors from the baseball team at the home game against E C Glass.
The 2026 Senior Class of Altavista Combined School got to walk the halls at Altavista Elementary School in their cap and gowns on Monday, May 18. The seniors were greeted by the students and teachers lining the hallways. They were given hugs, waves, and high fives as they passed by teachers and students. After the walk, the seniors got to play on the playground and posed for a senior class photo.

On Wednesday, May 27, Altavista Combined School held its High School Awards Ceremony in the gym. This was for students in grades 9-12. Principal Stefanie Anderson welcomed everyone to this special event.

William Campbell Combined School held its Class of 2026 graduation on Saturday, May 30 at 4 p.m., at Liberty University Vines Center in Lynchburg.
