On Tuesday, May 19, Brookville High School Bees Baseball recognized seven seniors from the baseball team at the home game against E C Glass.

On Wednesday, May 27, Altavista Combined School held its High School Awards Ceremony in the gym. This was for students in grades 9-12. Principal Stefanie Anderson welcomed everyone to this special event.

William Campbell Combined School held its Class of 2026 graduation on Saturday, May 30 at 4 p.m., at Liberty University Vines Center in Lynchburg.

On Thursday, June 4, Altavista Combined School was the location where Altavista vs Luray faced off for the Region B Championship for Varsity Boys soccer. Altavista is now Back to Back champions. Altavista won 1 to 0 against Luray.

Altavista Molly Scruggs and Caroline Payne traveled to Petersburg on Monday, June 1. In Doubles tennis Altavista played Riverheads. Altavista Molly Scruggs and Caroline Payne won semifinals vs Riverheads, Molly Fitzgerald and Eppard 4-6, 6-3 and 10-6.

The annual Basketball camp at the Altavista YMCA was a huge success, drawing its largest turnout in years with more than 70 participants in the morning session for kindergarten through 5th grade students. Special guests included Hilliary Scott who is the men's basketball coach for University of Lynchburg and Mike Cartolaro. Campers had fun, improved their basketball skills, learned valuable lessons about teamwork and sportsmanship, and created lasting memories.

Woodruff Motor Sport Kids Racing went racing on Sunday, June 28, at the Booker Building in Altavista after moving the race to Sunday due to the weather on Saturday. The weather was still unsure for Sunday so they raced inside.

Concord Volunteer Fire Department celebrated the 4th of July with its 64th annual 4th of July parade. The parade started at 10 a.m. at the Concord Elementary School and went down Village Highway to the Concord Volunteer Fire Station. On Saturday morning of July 4th the temperatures were heating up for a hot day with expected temperatures reaching 100 degrees.

On Sunday, August 9 at 9:30 a.m., Lambs Community Church located at 2591 Lambs Church Road, Altavista, will celebrate its 100th Anniversary of Rededication. The church is excited to have recently welcomed Rev. Andy Benton as pastor. The public is invited to attend as they rededicate their church. A potluck lunch will be held immediately following the service.
