NORTH EAST — Most of the Route 20 bridge over Twenty Mile Creek in North East Township came down earlier than expected on Wednesday morning.

The historic bridge has been closed pending repairs since 2011. It was dismantled last fall and now is being reassembled on new structural supports.

The school and a preschool also serving special needs students are located in the former St. John the Evangelist School.

There were "Kamala Harris obviously" signs, "Don't give up our rights" T-shirts and "Harris/Walz" signs in profusion at the Women's Freedom Rally at Erie's Bayfront Convention Center.

Lights atop the borough's downtown buildings were first for the town's September homecoming weekend and now come on nightly from dusk to midnight.

The plaza was purchased recently by Colony Plaza LLC, a subsidiary of PE Real Estate Holdings of New York, owned by Phillip Gesue, formerly of Erie.

The Thursday night event will include discussion of the study process. The first step is a Nov. 5 referendum on whether the study should be done.

Newell's prize was one of five grand prizes awarded by Harbor Freight Tools for Schools on Tuesday.

The first commercial solar farm in Erie County will come online this fall.
