Dance Canvas welcomes choreographers to apply to our signature program, the 2026-27 Choreographer Career Development Initiative. This season, we are seeking proposals to respond to the prompt: NOW! "What feels relevant, urgent, immediate, or impossible to ignore right now?"Dance Canvas will select up to 10 choreographers to be part of the CCDI. All selected Dance Canvas choreographers will create, incubate, receive feedback, and present their choreography to Atlanta audiences. Choreographers will also participate in workshops, roundtable discussions, and seminars to develop their careers and build professional networks. The program culminates in a performance series at the Rialto Center for the Arts in Atlanta, GA on March 19 and 20th, 2027!Applications are due on August 17, 2026. City Winery Atlanta and WCLK 91.9 presents Patti Austin live on July 8th at 8pm, part of a two show series! See both shows (opens in a new tab) here (opens in a new tab) .Patti Austin’s keen interest in being a total entertainer likely started when she stepped onto the stage of the world-famous Apollo Theater in Harlem at the age of four at the urging of music legend Dinah Washington. The daughter of jazz trombonist Gordon Austin, Patti was a recording star in her teens, achieving her first chart success in 1969 with “The Family Tree” (a Top 50 R&B single) after a string of 45s that would later become treasured collector’s items among Britain’s Northern soul community. During the 70s Patti was the undisputed "Queen" of the New York session scene, her voice was heard behind everyone from Paul Simon, Cat Stevens, James Brown and Joe Cocker to Bette Midler, Roberta Flack, Luther Vandross and Diana Ross and on countless memorable commercial jingles. After a series of much-acclaimed albums for CTI Records, she signed with her godfather Quincy Jones’ Qwest label and began achieving mainstream success on an international level thanks to the GRAMMY®-nominated hit "Baby Come To Me," her now classic duet with James Ingram and the follow-up duet, the Oscar-nominated "How Do You Keep the Music Playing?" as well as her appearance on albums with Jones on his best-selling Stuff Like That, his GRAMMY®- -winning classic The Dude and later, his From Q With Love Vols. 1 & 2. The GRAMMY®-nominated For Ella album opened up new doors for Patti as a performer and her embrace by the jazz world was further cemented with her Grammy winning classic CD “Avant Gershwin.Now after more than two decades of touring her take on the classic American Song Book has expanded Patti’s appeal and garnered standing ovations all over the USA and Europe. Join us at The Third Door on Wednesday, July 15 from 6–9 PM for our next Craft Club night: Kinusaiga (Fabric Painting).Kinusaiga is a Japanese art form that uses pieces of fabric tucked into carved designs to create colorful, textured artwork that almost looks painted from a distance.We’ve gathered a huge collection of colorful scrap fabrics for guests to mix, match, and turn into their own little fabric masterpiece. Follow a template we provide or completely freehand it. There are no rules here!Tickets include: all kinusaiga supplies, one project board to take home, two cocktails or mocktails from the craft night menu, and a snack spread for grazing throughout the night.Guests will also help curate the night’s playlist by submitting two songs when purchasing a ticket.

Domani Domani Harris has emerged as one of Atlanta’s most distinctive voices in modern hip hop, known for his introspective lyricism, soulful production choices, and commitment to authenticity. Born and raised in Atlanta, he has steadily carved out his own identity separate from legacy through consistent, high quality releases and intentional artistic growth. Domani first gained widespread recognition with early projects like The Constellation (2017) and Amygdala (2018), before elevating his profile with Time Will Tell (2019, Deluxe 2020), a critically praised project that drew co-signs from major artists including J. Cole, who notably regarded the project as a classic. In 2021, Domani reached a new level with the release of his full length album Skydive, a sonically cohesive and introspective body of work featuring Anthony Hamilton, Rapsody, Nasty C, and D Smoke. The project marked a defining moment in his career, landing in the Top 10 on Billboard and reaching number 3 on Amazon, while showcasing his ability to blend lyricism with musicality at a high level. Following Skydive, Domani expanded his reach through both U.S. and international touring, building a loyal global fanbase and strengthening his live performance presence. Rather than rushing another album, he adopted a strategic release approach, dropping a consistent stream of EPs and singles that kept his audience engaged while evolving his sound.
