The 1 MW facility generates power using the high-pressure flows of the State Water Project’s Devil Canyon Afterbay.

HydroWing is designed to be a cost-effective and scalable solution to tidal stream energy generation.

The Site C project remains on track to have all six generating units in service by fall 2025, B.C. Hydro said.

The project is the first time ORPC has generated electricity from one of its turbines outside of North America, after 17 previous deployments in the United States and Canada.

The project, scheduled for completion in December 2025, will be located on the Lajeado Hydroelectric Power Plant reservoir in Tocantins, Brazil.

The Salto de Chira power plant will have an installed power capacity of 200 MW and an energy storage capacity of 3.5 GWh.

Under the current project, ANDRITZ will carry out major uprating works on the turbines and will supply new generators as well as rehabilitation of the hydromechanical equipment related to the generating units.

With the nation's dams sitting at an average age of 60 years, multiple generations of employees have likely worked on each turbine, leaving behind knowledge with each handover.
