by Craig Hill December 30, 2024 Three people were displaced Friday night after fire tore through their mobile home in Grover Beach. Five Cities Fire Authority officials say the fire broke out at around 5:30 at the Grand Avenue mobile Home Park. When crews arrived, the mobile home was fully involved in flames with a man trapped inside. He suffered minor injuries and was treated at an area hospital. Officials say a portable propane heater was the cause for the fire.

by Craig Hill December 30, 2024 Three people have been arrested in connection with death of a Santa Maria man. Police issued three search warrants early Friday morning. Two adults and a juvenile are suspected of having various roles in the shooting death of 20-year-old Anthony Hernandez on December 10th. 18-year-old Jesus Lopez-Ramirez and a 16-year-old male juvenile were arrested on charges of murder with gang enhancements. 21-year-old Alex Lopez-Ramirez is suspected of being an accessory after the fact. Anyone with helpful information about this ongoing investigation is asked to contact the Santa Maria P.D.

by Craig Hill January 2, 2025 The CHP is investigating a crash that sent a car onto the beach at Avila yesterday afternoon. The crash happened just after 2 o’clock on Avila Beach Drive. Authorities say a Mercedes collided with a white Mini Cooper before leaving the road. The Mercedes ended up on the rocks about 30-feet down from the street. Only minor injuries were reported. It’s unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved.

by Craig Hill January 2, 2025 Thousands of people took part in the 45th annual Carlin Soulé Memorial Polar Bear Dip in Cayucos yesterday. A crowd of about 4500 people showed up to witness the event and take part in the various activities that were taking place before the swimmers took to the water. Between 1,500 and 2,000 swimmers kicked off 2025 by diving into the Pacific.

Templeton Library officials took to social media and donations quickly poured in, surpassing their goal. The library is privately funded and relies on donations to stay operational. Just two minutes after midnight yesterday, Miata and Steven Tracy welcomed baby girl Say’ora Grace Tracy into the world at Lompoc Valley Medical Center. A few hours later, at 9:50 a.m., Felix Sanchez was welcomed into the world at Sierra Vista Hospital in San Luis Obispo. Then, at Twin Cities hospital in Templeton, Zaria Anneliz Mariscal was born at 12:37 p.m.. Moms and newborns are all doing well.

by Craig Hill January 3, 2025 Beginning Monday, the Bob Jones Trail will be closed for maintenance. The closure will allow County Public Works crews to restore the pathway shoulders, clearing out accumulated sediment from drainage pipes, and replacing one drainage pipe that is damaged. Officials say the closure will occur between Ontario Road and Blue Heron Drive. The trail is scheduled to reopen by Friday the 10th.

According to KSBY, Paul Schneider’s RV went up in flames just two days after Christmas. Now, his Home Depot co-workers are doing what they can to get him back on his feet. Fire officials say the RV, and everything in it was a total loss. His co-workers have been collecting donations and started a Go-Fund-Me page. Donations can also be dropped off at The Home Depot in San Luis Obispo.

by Craig Hill January 3, 2025 The San Luis Obispo Police Department is looking for a group of kids allegedly involved in a rock throwing incident. It happened on December 20th. One of the juveniles threw a rock at a passing car from the train overpass on Tank Farm Road. The rock smashed into the drivers side windshield. According to the department’s Instagram post. Several juveniles were heard laughing about the damage from the overpass and then walked southbound on Morning Glory Way. Anyone with helpful information about this investigation is asked to contact the SLO P.D.

by Craig Hill January 3, 2025 Work on one of the deadliest intersections in San Luis Obispo County is set to begin later this month. In the past 10 years, eight people have died at the intersection of Wellsona Road and Highway 101. The project will include a 112-foot underpass beneath Highway 101, as well as a frontage road connecting the underpass with Wellsona on both sides of the highway. Caltrans says construction will begin on January 14th.
