The 2025 Tim Brown Memorial wrestling tournament was hosted over the weekend in Sacramento. The Oakdale High School wrestlers took second place as a team with a total of 220 points, only behind first place Buchanan with 350. Spanish Springs (Nevada) placed third at 214; Folsom placed fourth at 211.5 and Elk Grove rounded out the top five with 207.5.

For those folks that attended the various Christmas events staged in the community on Dec. 7, 2024, you likely will agree that the Christmas Spirit was felt by all. Even The Grinch had a smile on his green face as he strode by during the parade. From the biggest crowd seen at the holiday gathering to the more than 100 folks that registered to be a part of the Annual Christmas Parade, downtown Oakdale came alive with the bright lights and magic of Christmas. There were several groups and individuals that helped pull it all together.

Oakdale’s hugely popular Morning Market completed its multi-month run on Saturday, Sept. 28, with the final installment for 2024 hosted along North Third Avenue. The crowd turned out and there were plenty of games and fun for kids, such as the bobbing for apples table, along with fresh vegetables and fruits, crafts and merchandise vendors, music, specialty products and the booths featuring the Oakdale Young Entrepreneurs, setting up shop to sell their wares. Average gasoline prices in Modesto have fallen 0.6 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.01/gallon as of Monday, Jan. 13, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 201 stations in Modesto. Prices in Modesto are 1.1 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 25.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has increased 3.7 cents in the last week and stands at $3.52 per gallon.
