As summer season approaches and so does its increased rates of drowning, San Diego city leaders Friday declared May as Prevent Drowning and Water Safety Month.

Botanists and citizen scientists armed with the iNaturalist app on their smartphones are recording the biodiversity along the U.S.-Mexico border.
