Self reflection led to what Worku describes as an invitation to go deeper with God, which prompted dramatic changes. Even as his career thrived, he began feeling deeply compelled to leave it behind. He sensed God drawing him away from the music industry.

This Sabbath playwright Laura Wibberding and director Kara Wibberding will host a screening of their Reformation drama, “Luther vs. God”. Originally presented at PUC, the play is framed by Luther’s conversion in a thunderstorm and his posting of the ninety-five theses.

A grassroots movement of scholars from PUC with global outreach, the Bible Research Fellowship dates back to the post-World War II era. It eventually emerged as a source of rigorous inquiry and genuine scholarship. Initially operating autonomously, it gradually integrated into the fabric of official Adventism, culminating in its formal establishment within the departments of the GC of the 1950s. Its impact is still felt.

On March 23, the university announced on Facebook that a boiler failed in the Wade Hall residence for upper class women. The university announced that a boiler manufacturer could expedite the delivery of a new boiler to within seven days instead of the originally estimated six weeks.

The Center for Christian Bioethics at Loma Linda University celebrated 40 years with an April 6 dinner and talks reflecting on its past and future. Organized by its director, Grace Oei, MD, MA, metaphors of metamorphosis—seeds and flowers—extended from program design and event decor to a few didactic speeches.

On May 8, the Concerned Oakwoodites group of alumni, students, parents, and community supporters of Oakwood University sent an open letter to Oakwood’s board of trustees. The university’s board provided Spectrum a statement in response.

On Friday evening, May 17, in Chicago, Spectrum won two top Awards of Excellence for Website Redesign and for Social Media (awareness or advocacy) at the Associated Church Press conference.
