Phillip Manning More than twenty people have applied for seats on the Mat-Su Borough’s new Library Citizens’ Advisory Committee. About half of those who have applied live in the Northern Susitna Valley.

We talked about his time at the station, what led him to pursue the management position, what the transition means for the News Department, and more. A judge will decide on May 23rd whether the fence blocking Benka Lake public access will be removed.

In mid-April, the Comsat Area Lakes and Land Alliance, or CALLA, won its case against the State regarding a quarry near Christiansen Lake in Talkeetna. Now the State of Alaska has asked for reconsideration of the decision. CALLA attorneys submitted a response opposing the reconsideration.

Two economists presented their findings to the Senate Finance Committee last week following a series of reports about the failures of the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority, or AIDEA.

Susitna Valley High School celebrated the graduating class of 2024 in the school auditorium, Wednesday night. About 20 graduates crossed the stage to receive diplomas. This was the first graduation with new principal Bryn Kirby.

The Baldy Lake Airpark development just outside Talkeetna began in 2023 without proper permits in-hand. In August, local residents noticed equipment in the creek, dams cleared, and streams rerouted in some areas. Silt fencing, a requirement during construction to keep sediment from the waterways, was missing in many areas.
