December 24, 2024 | Andrew Gelderman In early September, the Mat-Su Borough School Board began a no phone pilot program at three schools: Palmer Junior Middle School, Palmer High School, and Su-Valley High School. While each school implements the program slightly differently, they all prohibit students from accessing their phones during the school day.

Alaska State Troopers arrested 47-year-old Talena Bess on December 26th for Assault in the Third Degree for an incident in Trapper Creek.

Former Talkeetna and Chase community resident Dan Elliott died unexpectedly December 21st, 2024 at Mat-Su Regional Hospital, Alaska.

Trapper Creek Community Council elections are happening now. Seven candidates are running to fill six seats. Council president Jason Kresge will remain in office for another year to fulfill a two-year term.

The Upper Susitna Food Pantry has become somewhat of a lifeline for Upper Valley residents, especially since the State of Alaska is not processing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, applications within the required 30 days.
