(Image from Google Maps) On Christmas morning at 6:30 a.m., while many families were waking up to the sounds of excited children, the household at 200 Navy Lane in Ocean Acres was escaping deadly smoke and fire.

FacebookTwitterEmailPrintCopy LinkShare Sunday morning, Dec. 29, Little Egg Harbor Township police retrieved the dead body of a senior woman from the lagoon behind North Boom Way, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced. They were responding to a call that had come in at approximately 7:45 a.m. about the floating body.

On Monday, Dec. 23, the Show Place Ice Cream Parlour, an extension of Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven, experienced flooding resulting from burst pipes. After the mess was dealt with, and grateful the damage wasn’t worse, the restaurant took to Facebook: “Thanking those who stepped up fast to help out two days before Christmas; those who called Beach Haven Police when they saw rushing water; the Beach Haven Police for following up, calling and getting the borough to shut water off; borough workers for coming out to shut it off; and dedicated volunteers who jumped right over to help.”
