Four men were wounded in a Thursday morning shooting along a typically quiet corridor on the Portage Park border that houses a mix of creative and industrial businesses.

Some Northwest Side neighbors have petitioned the city to remove the homeless encampment, arguing that it attracts crime and causes other problems at the park.

NORTH CENTER — A popular restaurant specializing in northern Thai cuisine will close its longtime North Center home Sunday to the dismay of its many regulars.

With much of the exterior work complete, train traffic should return to normal next month. But once the bus terminal construction begins, commuters will have to catch their bus about a block away from the station, officials said.

The CTA and Chicago Mosaic School will salvage and restore what they can of the hand-cut marble mosaic by artist Ellen Harvey for a new art installation inside the station house, officials said.

The developer plans to compete construction and have the apartment building ready for tenants by the end of the year.

The mural, "Ravenswood Walls of Togetherness," is under the train tracks at Lawrence and Ravenswood avenues.
