HARVEST – The anticipated starting offensive line for the Sparkman Senators averages 267 pounds per player with the total weight of 1,335 pounds. The trenches this season, carrying more than his share of load, will be led by the only returning starter on the OL Walter “Big Walt” Pruitt (OL, 6-0, 280, Sr.) at center. The two-sport athlete, who also handles duties of heavyweight on the Sparkman wrestling team, possess an additional talent that can be seen in ways that make everyone around him a better person.

MADISON – Car enthusiasts of all ages have the yearly consumption of fondness, wishes and pure excitement awaiting them just days away as on Saturday, Aug. 15, the sixth annual Rocket City Octane Auto Show in the South Hall of the Von Braun Center, presented by AutoworkZ, which will feature the return engagement of Von Hotrod, a well-known West Coast pin-striper, who carries an old-school vibe, and two of the most famous actresses from the 1973 motion picture American Graffiti, Mackenzie Phillips and Candy Clark. The one-day event is known as one of the most exciting auto shows in the Southeast with people as far away as Kentucky and the Carolinas attending.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The twist and turns journey for Gio Lopez is still in progress. With no regrets from the redshirt-junior, the 22-year old, former three-star, First-Team All-State quarterback at James Clemens High, had his latest turn dropped him off in Winston-Salem, N.C. where he is expected to be the starting quarterback for the Demon Deacons at Wake Forest.

Prior to telling the details of the history of Harrel Hill, let's go ahead and answer the question most will want to know as Hill played baseball for both Alabama and Auburn. Which school does he cheer for today? “Auburn. No hesitation,” said Hill.

MADISON – Most elite high school football players have a core motivation, an inner reason why they do what they do in the sport they love. Many coaches try and tap into those motivations and ask what makes that player tick?

MADISON – The summer- long workouts are now memories of the past. The pre-season practices are now complete. With both of those facts in the history books, it's now time for the “real” action to take place as all of the hoopla is over, so let the games begin.

MADISON – The James Clemens cross country program opened its 2026 season with an impressive showing at the First Chance 2-Miler, hosted by Bob Jones High School. The Jets' season opener was highlighted by an individual varsity victory, two junior high team runner- up finishes, and a strong team showing from athletes across grades 7–12.

MADISON- Two words are the origin for the enormous excitement across Madison this week: “Madison Bowl.”

MADISON – There's a “newness” among the local high school volleyball scene as three of the four local schools each have new head coaches into the 2026 season. Only fifth-year head coach Jenny Jarrett at Bob Jones returns to her spot on the sideline.
