Scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain possible across Central Mississippi through the rest of the week and into the weekend.

Rain will not fall all day everywhere, but scattered storms are expected each afternoon and evening. Some storms could produce heavy downpours, especially where storms move slowly or track over the same areas.

Some storms could produce very heavy rainfall, and with the ground already saturated, localized flash flooding will be possible where storms repeatedly move over the same areas.

Saturday brings a brief break from the widespread rain during the day before more showers and storms return Saturday night. Widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected Sunday and Memorial Day, with heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding possible in some areas. An additional 2 to 5 inches of rain could fall across parts of the region through early next week.
