JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) -A Marginal Risk for severe thunderstorms remains in place through Wednesday across parts of Central Mississippi. While widespread severe weather is not expected, a few storms could produce damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall. Localized flash flooding is also possible where storms repeatedly move over the same areas.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) -Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue through the day, with a few stronger storms capable of producing heavy rain, gusty winds, and localized flash flooding. Patchy dense fog will develop early this morning across Mississippi, reducing visibility in some areas.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) -Hot and mainly dry weather has settled across central Mississippi as a strong ridge of high pressure continues to build over the region. This pattern will remain in place through the weekend and into early next week, bringing increasing heat, humidity, and very limited chances for rainfall.

A weak cold front will move through Central Texas this afternoon, bringing our best opportunity for rain over the next several days.

The next several days will see high temperatures just under the 100-degree mark. Whether it's 99°F or 100°F, it'll still be very hot.

Afternoon temperatures are forecast to stay in the upper 90s to near 100°F, even as we see a little cloud cover and isolated to widely scattered rain chances over the coming days.
