The stock market is bouncing around in Thursday morning trading amid a choppy start for Nvidia in the wake of its latest earnings report. The Dow was faring the best with a gain of 65 points, or 0.2% after briefly dipping into negative territory. The Nasdaq Composite was down 0.5%.

The Dow was gaining steam as Wall Street continued to flip back and forth between Big Tech and the rest of the market. The blue-chip index was up 421 points, or 1%, while the S&P 500 was up 0.4%. The Nasdaq Composite was down 0.2%.

You can blame the so-called Magnificent Seven stocks for today’s stock market struggles. The Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF, a proxy for market breadth, was up 1%. The Nasdaq Composite was down 0.8% with a majority of its stocks on the rise.

The Nasdaq Composite has turned higher, too, but the Dow is running away from the other major indexes today. The Dow was up 542 points, or 1.3%. The S&P would be doing even better if not for a 5.3% decline from Alphabet and a 2% slide in Amazon shares.

You can tell the stock market successfully shrugged off its worst week since September because we’re once again keeping an eye on record closing highs. The Dow is up 206 points, or 0.5%, today. The Nasdaq Composite is down 0.1%.
