You may have heard that the number of collisions between cars and deer in the Hamptons has declined dramatically in recent years. It’s not that there are fewer deer in the community. Indeed, you still see them often on back roads when you drive along. Strangely, however, it seems that they are more aware of cars and know to stay out of their way.

As a longtime resident of the Hamptons, I’d like to apologize to the people of Florida for what’s happened in recent years. Weather patterns have shifted. And the many huge hurricanes that for years clobbered the Hamptons now clobber Florida. What have we done?

Among those seen amidst the crowds boarding the subway on the Westhampton Beach platform heading east on the local early Wednesday morning at 7 a.m. was former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, wearing sunglasses so as not to be noticed. What was that about?
