Welsh-Roanoke Junior High School librarian Shanna Giillett has been awarded a $1,500 Dollar General Literacy Grant to replace aging books in the library’s Newbery book collection. She hopes to debut a “Newbery New Year” section in January to introduce more students to the collection which includes “Julie of the Wolves,” “Where the Red Fern Grows” and “Red Badge of Courage” and more.
