Patchy fog may be around in a few spots early, but it should burn off quickly after sunrise. The rest of the morning turns quiet with mostly sunny skies, followed by a hotter and more humid afternoon. Highs reach around 90 degrees in Indianapolis, and heat index values will climb noticeably higher, especially south of the city where readings could approach 100. A few isolated showers or thunderstorms may develop later in the afternoon, mainly near and north of I-70, but coverage should remain limited. Most of Sunday stays dry.

Expect multiple rounds of thunderstorms and high humidity in central Indiana through midweek, plus heat index concerns.

The weekend starts unsettled once again. Another cluster of showers and thunderstorms may move into central Indiana during the morning, with additional scattered activity possible into the afternoon. There should be dry breaks, so this does not look like continuous rain from sunrise to sunset, but the ground is already saturated from this week’s heavy rainfall and even another quick downpour could aggravate ongoing flooding problems. A Flood Watch remains in effect for much of central Indiana through Saturday evening. Highs around Indianapolis should reach the lower to middle 80s, with cloud cover potentially keeping temperatures down in places that see more morning rain.

The evening starts much quieter than the morning, with only an isolated shower or thunderstorm possible early. Most locations should get several dry hours through the evening as temperatures slowly fall through the 70s. Later tonight, however, the atmosphere begins reloading as warmer and increasingly unstable air returns from the south. Showers and thunderstorms become more likely again after midnight, especially toward daybreak Sunday. Lows settle into the middle 70s. With the ground already saturated from several days of heavy rain, any overnight downpour could quickly create additional flooding problems. A Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday morning.

Thunderstorms remain the immediate concern this evening as a few storms could produce damaging wind gusts and very heavy downpours. The strongest storm threat should favor areas near and especially south of I-70, although Indianapolis could still see a storm move through. With the ground extremely saturated from the recent heavy rain, even a brief downpour may aggravate ongoing flooding problems. Storm coverage should generally decrease later this evening, although another batch of showers and thunderstorms may move across southern portions of central Indiana late tonight into early Monday morning. Otherwise, expect plenty of clouds with lows in the lower 70s and west winds around 5 mph. River flooding will remain an issue even after the rain begins winding down.

Rain coverage decreases toward midday, although an isolated shower or thunderstorm could redevelop during the early afternoon, with the better chance east of Indianapolis. Most locations should spend a good portion of the afternoon dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Highs reach around 80 degrees. Northwest winds increase to around 5–10 mph, with occasional gusts near 20 mph.

Otherwise, expect mostly sunny skies and a noticeably more comfortable afternoon as cooler and drier air settles into central Indiana. Highs only reach the upper 70s with northwest winds around 10–15 mph and occasional gusts near 20 mph. An isolated shower cannot completely be ruled out late in the day across far northeastern portions of central Indiana, but Indianapolis and most of the area should remain dry.

A quiet and comfortable night is ahead across central Indiana. Skies become mostly clear this evening with temperatures falling quickly after sunset. Lows settle into the middle to upper 50s with northwest winds around 5 mph becoming nearly calm overnight. Some patchy fog could develop toward daybreak Monday, especially in sheltered or low-lying areas.

Otherwise, expect a mixture of sunshine and some passing high clouds through the day. Temperatures remain seasonable with highs in the lower to middle 80s. Winds stay very light, generally around 5 mph or less. Rain is not expected.
