HOUTZDALE — After having Monday’s game postponed due to inclement weather, and extending the holiday break by a day, the Curwensville Lady Tide finally managed to return to the hardwood. The difficult part of the season for the lady cagers is that a majority of the month of January is spent away from their home court in Patton Hall. The Lady Tide began a four-game stretch on the road Thursday night, traveling to face the Lady Damsels of Moshannon Valley.

BELLWOOD-- Fans that made their way to Bellwood on Friday night were in for a treat in Laurel Highlands basketball.
HYDE — It has been quite a run to start January for the Clearfield Lady Bison. After the loss at the end of 2024 to Greater Johnstown, the girls pulled off back-to-back wins against P-O and Bellwood-Antis, each with a different vibe. Hoping to keep the momentum, the Bison Gymnasium lit up on Monday night with Clearfield playing host to a challenging Penns Valley Lady Rams squad that was already in the second half of their season.
HYDE — After last Friday’s victory against Bellwood-Antis, Clearfield Bison head coach Nate Glunt acknowledged the fact the month of January is the one where it establishes the top-tier teams in the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference. That competitive attitude was put on display Tuesday night, as many were avoiding the frigid outside temperatures by heading inside the Bison Gymnasium. The Huntingdon Bearcats made the trip north for some competition, looking to spoil the homestand and end the Bison cagers’ three-game win streak.
SPRING MILLS — As the temperature began dropping outside on Wednesday evening, things inside the gymnasium at the Penns Valley Area High School heated up. Coming off a four-game winning streak, including a very tight battle the night before against Huntingdon, the Clearfield Bison were eager to keep things going. At the same time, the Penns Valley Rams were itching to end the streak and start their own run in the Laurel Highlands.
BEDFORD — Sometimes when the need is necessary, high school sports will put forth a doubleheader on the calendar to get two games in at the same time. Usually, that is reserved for the baseball season because of rain or field conditions. It’s a rarity that it will happen on the hardwood. However, the Clearfield Bison would load up a pair of buses on Friday night, with both the Bison cagers and the Lady Bison making a trip south on I-99. The task, a doubleheader for both squads to take on the school with the same mascot, the Bedford Bison.
