Granbury area residents have lots of reasons to be encouraged by the performance of the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department, according to the annual review presented by Fire Chief Matt Hohon during the Granbury City Council meeting Feb. 20.

The musical “My Fair Lady” is set to hit the Granbury Opera House stage Feb. 23 in continuation of the Broadway on the Brazos season under the direction of Jarrett Self, assisted by Garrett Hollowell. The story is based on the 1938 film adaptation of George Bernard Shaw’s 1913 play and Gabriel Pascal’s motion picture “Pygmalion.”

On March 2, 1836 — 188 years ago — Texas gained its independence from Mexico and adopted the Texas Declaration of Independence. This day is now celebrated annually across the state and serves as a day of remembrance and a day of education. In Granbury, the celebration will take place beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, in the jury room on the second floor of the Granbury Courthouse on the Granbury square.
