Tuesday morning is off to a dry start, but there is patchy, dense fog in Clayton and light fog in Clovis. The fog will lift by mid-morning. Skies will be mostly sunny this morning, with increasing clouds during the afternoon and evening. Storms will develop in the mountains across the state during the early afternoon, moving southeast into the adjacent lower terrain.

Wednesday morning is calm and clear across the state. Temperatures will be heating up today, rising back into the 80s, 90s and 100s. The heat wave will continue Thursday, thanks to high pressure overhead. Showers and storms will be limited to the northern, southwest and south-central mountains.

Tuesday morning is mild, mostly clear and calmer. Strong winds from Monday subsided overnight. The winds are under ten miles per hour for most of the state, except in the southeast plains, where winds of ten to twenty five are still present. Most of the state is extremely dry, but low level moisture is sitting in the east plains, east of the central mountain chain. An air quality alert is in effect in Lincoln, Chaves and De Baca counties until Tuesday afternoon, due to thick plumes of smoke moving northeast from the Sacramento Mountain fires near Ruidoso.

Two flash flood warnings are in effect Thursday morning. One is over the Hermit's Peak Calf Canyon burn scar, and another over the northeastern Jemez, north of Los Alamos to Abiquiu and Espanola. These will be in effect until 8 AM and 8:45 AM, respectively. More showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout Thursday.

Friday morning is off to a partly to mostly cloudy start, with rain showers moving across eastern New Mexico and the far northern mountains. Moisture will continue streaming into the state today, with scattered showers and storms in eastern New Mexico all day. Isolated storms will develop in northwest NM and southwest CO this afternoon, moving east through the overnight hours. These storms may become severe, with damaging wind and hail as the main threats.
