FILL THE VOID: Athens R&B singer-songwriter Trevon just released his newest full-length named Green X Roll. It’s a long record, clocking in at 16 songs. And you know what? They’re all worth the time spent listening. From the jump with opening song “Present,” he hits on all points. I may be in the minority here, but I prefer his songs that are more sparse to those with fuller arrangements. Not that those slack by any degree at all. THIS IS HOW THEY APPEAR: If you caught the debut show by new Athens band Persona Machine at Ciné a couple of weeks ago and want to see them again soon, you’re in luck. They’ll next play live at Flicker Theatre & Bar on Friday, Nov. 1 as the first band on a triple bill that will have Sacred Bull headlining and Palaces right in the middle. They propagate a particularly knowledgeable type of Guitar Hero metal, but third-wave emo has certainly left its fingerprint on them as well. ROCK AGAINST ROCKS: Popular Athens folk group Cicada Rhythm will host and perform at a special show titled Rock to Stop The Quarry on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Low Star Farm (473 Old Commerce Road Ext.). Doors open at 1 p.m., music starts at 2 p.m., and the whole event is slated to be over by 5:30 p.m. Other acts include Don Chambers, North Georgia All Stars and lighthearted. The quarry in question is the nearly 900 acres proposed to be situated near the north end of Athens, just over the Jackson County border. The impact to groundwater, air quality and noise pollution is unquestionable and at this point also unmeasurable. Tickets are $20 in advance, and all proceeds go toward the prevention of the quarry being developed. TO HERE KNOWS WHEN: A cool, understated project named understatements just eked out a two-track release named be nothing / be something, which is also the name of its constituent songs. They’re each pretty solidly in the shoegaze genre, but the first also owes a huge debt to classic drum and bass. The second is a nice, soothing ambient track that works fine for meditation but, even at its running time of over five minutes, is kind of too short to get the job completely done. Still, this is a neat little record that should make a fine addition to your fall playlist. Find it at understatements.bandcamp.com.

THREE CHORD MONTE: Musician Bart King returns this year with another instance of his popular Holiday Hustle Club show, which will happen at The Foundry this time around.
