In a first-time appearance in the San Juans, the Andrew Collins Trio will be playing at the Community Theatre Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. Concertgoers will be treated to a showcase of popular collision between folk, new acoustic roots, chamber grass, Celtic and jazz, not to mention a dizzying number and energetic interplay of instruments on stage.
Full of dry, British humor, “Gladis Baker Gladiator” will allow the audience to check their worries at the door.

Child care, even pre-coronavirus, has been a critical need on San Juan. The Nest Harbor Child Care held a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Nov. 18. The owners and staff hope to provide the community with accessible quality care for toddlers and infants.
Two years after a fire that destroyed three historical buildings, one building recently reopened and another is nearly done. A faint scent of fresh paint still hung in the air as islanders gathered for the Windermere office’s official ribbon cutting on Nov. 21.
Unlike last year’s torrential downpour, islanders stayed dry as they crowded around the Christmas Tree in front of Wells Fargo for its official lighting, on Friday, Dec. 6. The temperature was mild as they enjoyed cocoa and cookies provided by Riptide Cafe.

Made up of both new and returning players, coach Brandyn Pedersen is looking forward to what this team can do this year.
Sue Grenfell returns for her sixth season as the lady Wolverines basketball coach. This year the team consists of 13 athletes, two seniors, three juniors, five sophomores and three freshmen.

This year the Wolverines wrestling team is roughly 13 members strong. Several are new, but many are returning, including head coach Tad Bremer, along side his wife Sabrina Bremer. This will be their seventh year.
Many of you know that I was hit by a car while on my way to cover a wrestling match at the high school. I fractured my wrist, hip and a broken knee. The knee required me to be flown to Bellingham for surgery. The surgery went extremely well, and hopefully, in a few months you will see me out and about once again.
Inspired to work with her students on a classic tale, Friday Harbor High School theater teacher Lindsey Saarie is directing William Shakespeare’s well-known tragedy, ”Romeo and Juliet.” The high school theater group will be performing at the San Juan Community Theatre from Jan. 16-19.
