The Scottsboro Police Department has undergone many changes in the past half-year. In November, the Scottsboro Police Department welcomed K-9 Amp to their ranks, a narcotics and tracking Belgian Malinois, as part of Police Chief Greg Godfrey's plan to take a harder stance against drugs in Scottsboro. Six months later, to improve upon that goal, he formed a dedicated drug unit, composed of K-9 Amp, his handler, Officer Ryley McBride and Officer Blade Sanders.
