Through 158 games, the Red Sox are still mathematically alive. That means at least one scenario exists where the Red Sox earn the third wild card spot. There are likely multiple scenarios, given the complicated tiebreakers and different permutations of how the season could end. Either way, if we want to see the Red Sox in the postseason, winning the rest of the games is step one.

In an effort to discover a real-life infinite money glitch, Nike announced that the “City Connect” jerseys released over the past few seasons are on a rotating schedule with the oldest editions being replaced by new versions beginning in 2025. The Red Sox yellow jerseys were among the first of the collection and were set to be replaced, but as Chris Cotillo reported, the team elected to add the popular new uniforms into the regular rotation. The navy blue jerseys are being replaced which is fine with me. I don’t know why they can’t keep both, but I digress.

Playoff baseball is fun. Not making the playoffs is less fun, but just because the Red Sox aren’t participating doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy the imminent chaos. Because baseball is somewhat of a regional sport, you might not as plugged in on other teams, especially those foreign National League squads. Ahead of the playoffs, here are a few players to take note of as we watch other teams live our dreams.

How are we feeling about the upcoming Fall Classic?

It wasn’t a great World Series debut for the Yankee skipper.

Story hasn’t completed a full season with the Red Sox without injury. This year he’s heading into the offseason relatively healthy. We’ve seen Story get incredibly hot at the plate, but he typically takes time to find his swing. If Story can get through spring training healthy and stay on the field, he could be a right-handed presence in the lineup. If not, that contract will look even worse than it already does.

He’s left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet of the Chicago White Sox. Crochet is 26 years old and under contract for the next two years. While he’s not guaranteed to move this offseason, he’s as available as any player under contract has ever been.
