Many of the typical elements of a pregame, halftime, and postgame began on this progam half of a century ago including live look-ins, legalized sports betting, and the integration of former players as analysts at the desk. To honor its legacy and pay homage on its 50th anniversary season in 2025, CBS Sports tapped into their virtual reality firepower and the creativity of their graphics team to recreate the original set.

Soccer is a truly global sport, and to match the American viewing audience’s insatiable need for domestic leagues outside of the United States like La Liga in Spain, ESPN scratched that itch with daily coverage on ESPN FC. For their Spanish-language studio programming, the network won the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Studio Show In Spanish.

The 4 Nations Face-Off, a new international competition in February 2025 that replaced the traditional NHL All-Star Game, was a chance for some of the best players in the world to represent their countries in a non-Olympic year. A one-off idea turned into a must-watch tournament that entertained numerous hockey fans around the globe. Accompanying the live action on the ice was 4 Nations Face-Off: Unveiled, a two-part documentary series from NHL Productions that followed the players during this first-ever tournament. Powered by Canada’s overtime win over the United States and stellar play all competition long, the league was awarded the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Edited Sports Event Coverage.

Prime Video is no stranger to innovation, and within the realm of live streaming, the company has more opportunities to push what is possible during a live event.
