Vegas’ attempt to become the first NHL team to go 82-0 was squashed last night in Washington and by the glove of a former Golden Knight. The Capitals exploded for three goals in the 2nd period and former friend Logan Thompson held on to win 4-2 against his old teammates. It was a classic revenge win for Thompson, the first of what Vegas hope is not many this year.

With a win later today the Golden Knights would be back on pace for 109 points. Save the trip, right the ship.

In his 13th career regular season game as a Golden Knight, center Tomas Hertl performed like the highly-paid star that Golden Knights fans have been waiting to see. Last night, the 31-year-old broke out for a four-point appearance and led Vegas to a 6-1 blowout victory over LA.

This summer I boldly predicted that Golden Knights power forward Ivan Barbashev would lead the team in scoring. It was a loose forecast based on star center Jack Eichel’s playmaking ability and Jonathan Marchessault’s departure. My reasoning was simple, someone has to score. With another two tallies on Friday afternoon, Barbashev is currently third in the NHL with seven goals. Vegas' forward trails only Tampa superstar Nikita Kucherov and Devils captain Nico Hischier, whom both have eight goals this season.

On three occasions, VGK has recorded two goals on the man-advantage and won those games by an average of 3.5 goals. All in total, the Golden Knights are 8-4-1 in games when they score on the PP. It's no surprise the rare off night cost them in Toronto.

Going into tonight the Golden Knights have allowed five power play goals in their last six games. Vegas currently has the 25th worst (76.6%) PK percentage and it’s been even worse since early November.
