The hot conditions of today will be replaced by a warm pattern for the next several days. The transition to the cooler conditions may bring some breezy weather to the area, but not windy. Regions to our north, along the Columbia River, will be gusty but that should not translate this far south. Highs Wednesday will be in the low 80s most Central Oregon locations under partly sunny skies.
The weather at the Darlene Fire has been breezy today which has allowed the fire to expand to nearly 2500 acres by noon (Wednesday.) The fire has been growing east over the past several hours and is currently 30% contained. The weather conditions will not be favorable for quick containment, as the eastern edge continues to push into brush and timber which will burn aggressively at times.

Our Junior Forecaster this week was Amelia. Amelia will be in sixth grade this fall and attends West Side Village Magnet School in Bend. Glad that summer is here, she enjoys riding her bike, especially when the temperatures are in the mid-70s. One of her favorite activities is hanging out at one of our many area parks with her mom.

The region will be, once again, back in the 80s starting Friday and through the weekend. We will be looking at the 80-degree range of afternoon highs for the next several days as dry and warm air dominates the area.

The weather pattern will be quiet over the next several days as the winds are expected to be breezy but not windy. The flow of air will be generally from the northwest on Saturday, which will push the smoke from the Darlene 3 fire to the southeast into Lake County. There will be some cloud cover on Saturday afternoon but the temperatures are still going to hit the low 80s.
The area will be warm today, but there should be a mix of clouds and sunshine. There will be more sunshine in the morning and more clouds in the afternoon. There may be a few light, spotty showers in the late afternoon, but for the most part, the tri-counties should stay dry.
Dry and warm pattern today and into Wednesday as high pressure at the surface takes over the area. High temperatures are likely to be in the low to middle 80s through Wednesday, then we get very hot. There will be plenty of sunshine and warm weather for the next several days as we prepare for the hottest stretch of heat this year.
The area will be experiencing a significant warm up as we move through the long holiday weekend. Temperatures will be on the rise this week, reaching the low 100s by Friday. This period of heat will continue into next week. Our first "Heat Wave" of the year is about to begin.
The Fourth will be the beginning of the 90s as high pressure in the Eastern Pacific continues to build. The larger/higher the dome is the hotter the air is underneath. Air sinks underneath the high-pressure ridge and as it sinks, it compresses. As the air molecules compress, the mash together and generate friction and heat is generated. The longer this goes on, the harder it is to break down.
