Sunny skies for the rest of the afternoon with winds from the south to southwest at 3 to 8 mph. Smokey conditions from the Canadian wildfires will diminish through the evening too. The first day of school for many in the Northland will see a warmer Tuesday with gusty southwest winds.
The first day back to school was ideal in the weather department. It might have been a touch windy at times but at least the skies were blue, and the temperatures were warm. Tomorrow breezy winds will continue but there will be an increase in temperatures and humidity. There is a chance of some scattered showers, and a few thunderstorms Wednesday through Friday. There is a higher risk of strong to severe storms Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night and into Thursday morning with passing of a cold front.

You may have noticed the fog develop over Lake Superior today. This fog will spread across the Northland tonight creating some dense fog heading into Friday morning. All the warmth and semi-humid conditions is colliding with the cooler lake breeze to create the fog. Friday fog will begin to dissipate by mid-morning. More sunshine is expected to last through day. Winds will be off the lake keeping shoreline communities much cooler than average.
