More light snow is possible starting Tuesday evening. It will be sporadic with the best snow chances Thursday night into Friday. Friday AM could be slick.

At the rate, this winter is turning into a complete bummer again. There is some snow in the forecast but it’s not anything to get excited about. A cold front will begin to pass through Minnesota Thursday afternoon. Some light snow will accompany this front. We are not looking at any major accumulations. We will be lucky to get even a dusting. However, Thursday night conditions become a little more favorable for some snow that may stick around. Temperatures will stay consistent through the weekend. We are looking at temperatures staying in the teens for most of the Northland.

Light to moderate snow is expected along a quickly moving cold front. Up to 2 inches of snowfall is possible across north central Minnesota as the front moves eastward. Lesser amounts around or under 1 inch are forecast for the North Shore and northwest Wisconsin.

Some parts of the Northland that has received some snowfall today will get a brief break in snowfall is expected tonight, before the next system arrives Saturday. Another clipper will drop out of Canada and bring is some light snow to the Northland Saturday and Sunday. As much as 1-3” of snow is likely for the Northland, and locally higher amounts along portions of the North Shore and northwest WI. Southerly winds should lead to the higher terrain of Lake and Cook Counties to see closer to 4-7” of snow.

Light flurries are possible around the Northland until early this evening. Look for snow showers continue through the evening for the U.P. of Michigan. There is a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for this region until 6am Tuesday morning. Winds will continue to be a bet blustery throughout the evening.

Believe it or not our warming trend today with highs in the single digits to lower teens across the Northland. Expect one more night with lows below 0F and wind chills in the -10 to -20F range. A quick moving clipper system moves through tomorrow afternoon to make Northland roads slick just in time for the evening commute. Snow will weaken by the evening hours and temperatures are expected to climb through the early morning hours Thursday.

We sure hope you had the opportunity to enjoy the unseasonably warm weather in the Northland today. We will likely see another warm day Friday, but winds will shift from the southwest to the northwest. This happens because a cold front will pass through and could create some snow squalls Friday afternoon. If any snow squalls develop, expect temporary poor visibility on the roads and does impact travel quickly. Arctic air returns this weekend as temperatures free fall beginning Saturday. Dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills are expected Saturday and lasting into Wednesday. Wind chill values as low as -30 to -45 could result in frostbite in as little as 10 minutes. Prepare now for the cold and don’t forget to bring in the pets.

Bitter cold temperatures will hang around tonight leading to morning wind chills -30°F to -50°F. Look for snow along the south shore too.

The deep arctic cold we’ve been experiencing since Saturday from Minnesota to Louisiana and Florida is finally getting modified. Winds have switched from a cold northerly wind to a warmer southerly wind.
