Kids were able to get free school supplies, enjoy free ice cream at Bennie and Mae's and receive haircuts at local barbershops and salons.

The district is introducing BusRight. It's a new technology tool that is designed to keep kids and parents connected to and from school, all through an app called BusRight Parent.

During the summer, the shelter reached capacity, but outreach/victim advocate Jason Niblett said it's cleared out a little because of back-to-school.

In January, WDAM 7 reported on the construction of several athletic facilities on all three high school campuses. Since then, there has been a lot of progress.

“It's always a great time to welcome our kiddos back on our campus,” Moselle Elementary School Supervising Principal Mark Brown said.

The department said they've been experiencing people knocking on doors in the middle of the night. Police urge residents to be cautious when helping others when they approach your door.
