Eichel has nine goals and 36 assists for 45 points in VGK’s first 34 games. That puts him on pace to break the team record for points in a season by a whopping 30 points. He leads the team in points, assists, and shots and is the leader among forwards in time on ice at even-strength, on the power play, shorthanded, and in overtime.

Earlier this season, the Golden Knights’ power play was operating at the best level it has in franchise history. Through the first month of the season, Vegas scored on exactly a third of their power play opportunities and it was a huge reason why they were scoring 4.5 goals per game. Recently though, the power play has started to dry up a bit. Before last night’s game in San Jose, the Golden Knights had hit on just one of their last 15 power plays.

This year, the Golden Knights have faced either the backup or third goalie in 17 of the 40 games and they have feasted on them. Vegas are a stellar 16-1-0 against backups this season, accounting for over half of their season point total in the standings.
